WASHINGTON: A verbal spat witnessed between US State Department Spokesman John Kirby and a Russian journalist as the US official was speaking in a press briefing here, ARY News reported on Thursday.

United States State Department Spokesman John Kirby, speaking in a weekly press briefing, got into a heated exchange with a Russian journalist on a question regarding the ongoing crisis in Syria.

The situation kept intensifying with each question the journalist asked him.

She questioned the sources from where the United States was getting its information regarding Russia targeting hospitals in Syria. He replied, “I am not making the accusations, I am telling you that we have received reports from credible aid organizations.”

He said, “Why shouldn’t you ask your government same kinds of questions you’re standing here asking me. Ask them about their military activities.”

Answering a question regarding the policies of outgoing US President Barack Obama, Kirby said that they will remain intact till 20th January 2017.

He said that the terrorist attacks in Balochistan’s capital Quetta were destructive.  He said  that the United States will continue to cooperate with its allies in tackling terrorism.

“All countries have to work together to curb terrorism,” Kirby said.
