Weather causes delay in direct talks with Taliban

ISLAMABAD: The government's direct talks with Taliban leaders postponed as the government negotiators could not travel to North Waziristan due to bad weather, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

Professor Ibrahim, a member of Taliban negotiating team, has confirmed that the Taliban and government committees had to visit North Waziristan region, the bastion of Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and to hold direct talks with the Shura of Taliban. 

He said the agenda of the talks comprised of extension in the ceasefire period and release of the detained prisoners. 

Prof. Ibrahim said that the visit was put off due to the bad weather in the area. The government negotiators will visit North Waziristan after improvement in the weather conditions, he ended.
