DUBAI: Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars are battling to qualify for the playoffs of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 with only one game of round-robin matches left to decide the fate.

Lahore are dependant on Karachi Kings’ performance against Islamabad United today as Lahore have already played their eight games with six points and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of -0.223. While, Karachi are slightly better with six points and an NRR of -0.150.

Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United have already been through into the playoffs.

The advantage of better NRR will move Karachi into playoffs even if they lose this match with close margin.

With all this scenario, there is one more thing and that’s raining which has started without a sign of stopping as the time for the game draws nearer. In case of a washout, Islamabad and Karachi both will qualify for the playoffs. Islamabad will secure third and Karachi fourth position, which means they will play each other again in the second playoff on Wednesday.

2017-PSL-Schedule

If Karachi bat first and lose, then they must ensure that Islamabad chase the target in 18.3 or more overs, otherwise their NRR will drop below that of Lahore and consequently Lahore will qualify for the playoffs instead of Karachi.

If Karachi bowl first and lose, then they must ensure that the difference between their score and the target is not more than 10 runs so that their NRR doesn’t drop below -0.223.
