SYLHET: South Africa Women has comprehensively defeated Pakistan’s women by 44 runs in Women’s World T20 at Sylhet Stadium on Sunday, ARY News reported.

After being invited by Pakistan to bat first, openers of SA Dane van Niekerk and Lizelle Lee shared an unbroken 163-run opening stand.

Lee scored unbeaten 67 off 55 balls hitting 8 fours and a six, while her partner van Niekerk remained not out at 90 that came off in 66 balls with 13 fours and a six.

Pakistan Women failed to strike even once.

Chasing 164 runs, Pakistan’s women lost two wickets at the score of 31. But a 48-run partnership for the third wicket between Nain Abidi and Nida Dar allowed Pakistan to recover a bit.

Then both of them dismissed in successive overs allowing South Africa to stifle the scoring, effectively denying Pakistan any impetus.

Pakistan Women ended 20 overs at 119-9 and remained 44 runs short of target.
