World Heart Day was first created in 2000 with the object and aim in mind to spread the awareness of the importance of heart. Being the most important part of the human body and its working, our heart must never be at risk and the World Heart Federation aims to improve our knowledge regarding this organ.
The theme for this World Heart Day is creating heart-healthy environments. The places in which we live, work and play should not increase our risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD).
