Pakistan has a vibrant electronic and press media as well as journalists who have contributed a lot to highlight important issues. Every year on May 3, World Press Freedom is celebrated across the world and in Pakistan too, rallies and seminars are conducted to highlight the importance of freedom of press. Journalists who lay down their lives in the course of their duty are also paid tribute on this day.

In Pakistan, the situation of press freedom is quite grim since journalists operate under threat and often get killed while doing their duty. In this regard, ARY News has always been the standard-bearer of press freedom and always strived to keep its viewers well informed. ARY News has also lost four of its valuable employees who laid down their lives while doing their duties.
From Karachi, cameraman Muhammad Arif, Assignment Editor Irshad Mastoi from Quetta, correspondent Abdul Haq from Khuzdar and Muhammad Amir from Peshawar were heroic employees of ARY News who sacrificed their lives to propagate the truth.
ARY News also had to encounter curbs and the channel also had to bear enclosure for a time period but the channel did not stray from its principles of upholding the freedom of press. ARY News strives to keep citizens informed and to fight any sort of movement that aims to gag the rights of journalists.
