World T20 2014: Pakistan face Bangladesh today

TOP NEWS

DHAKA: Pakistan will face hosts Bangladesh in their Super 10 stage match of the ICC World T20 2014 at Sher-e-Bangla stadium at Mirpur on Sunday (today), ARY News reports.

Pakistan has played two matches in the 2014 World T20. They were comprehensively beaten by India in their faced match but bounced back against Australia last Sunday to keep their chances alive in the mega event. The Green Shirts has made it to the semi-final of every Twenty20 World Cup so far. They have to beat the hosts today if they have to maintain their form.

On the other hand, the hosts are playing in arguably their worst form as of yet. They faced their second-worst defeat loss in terms of runs in a T20 and were also defeated by India by eight wickets. Their hopes of reaching the semi-finals have nearly faded away given their record of never beating a top eight side in a World T20.

Net Run Rate will not be a worry for the Green Shirts if they beat the hosts today. Pakistan will be level with West Indies if they manage to secure two points today. It should be noted that the Carribean side and Pakistan have to go one on one against each other ahead.

Bangladesh XI (likely): Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Nasir Hossain, Mahmudullah, Ziaur Rahman, Abdur Razzak, Mashrafe Mortaza and Al-Amin Hossain.

Pakistan XI (likely): Kamran Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafeez (capt), Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Sohaib Maqsood, Bilawal Bhatti, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal and Zulfiqar Babar
