According to YDA Pakistan official page on Facebook, the strike was being carried out to protest against the violence allegedly carried out on doctors by Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) members of National Assembly (MNAs) and heirs of patients in Lahore General Hospital and sacking of a doctor.
No decision or arrest was made against PML-N MNAs, however YDA called off the strike after negotiations with the government and reinstatement of the doctor.
YDA frequently carry out strikes to press for the rights of doctors, specially in Punjab province.
They had demanded immediate legal action against the ruling party’s MNAs and reinstatement of a doctor who had been dismissed in Sargodha.
Protesting doctors had warned to widen the scope of their strike, given that their demands were not met.
The doctors association had completely shut down OPDs in all the government hospitals in Punjab and emergency departments of Sargodha and General Hospital Lahore, hence causing immense hardships and misery for the patients.
