Younis' experience will count in World Cup: Azhar Mahmood

TOP NEWS

“He (Younis Khan) is a good player and I back him for World Cup assignment. I believe his experience will count during the team’s campaign in Australia and New Zealand,” Azhar said.

Younis was Pakistan cricket team’s captain when the side won World T20 Championship in 2009.

Azhar added that Pakistan batsmen should change their approach and start rotating strikes often and try to avoid dot balls.

“Our players doesn’t seem to believe in the approach of rotating strike. The bowlers and fielders come under pressure when the batsmen on crease too often rotate strikes. Our batsmen should change their approach for better performance,” he said.

Azhar, who features in foreign cricket leagues, said that Saeed Ajmal’s absence from the World Cup squad has come as a huge blow for Pakistan.

“The gap in the bowling department after him will be difficult to fill. It has come as a huge blow for Pakistan ahead of the World Cup,” he said.
