Younis turns aggressive over demotion, refuses to sign contract

KARACHI: Veteran test cricketer Younis Khan has denied to sign the central contract after being demoted to Category B from A, ARY News reported.

Another controversy has been pop up in Pakistan’s cricket following the announcement of players’ central contract, as three players including Younis Khan has expressed concerns over the contract rebuffing to sign.

Younis turned aggressive and unhappy over the demotion from category A to B in the new central contracted list of players announced by the Cricket Board (PCB) while other players like Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez, Junaid Khan and Saeed Ajmal were given the top category with captain Misbah-ul-Haq.

Younis, who has played 89 Tests and 253 ODIs, was dropped from the one-day squad last year and since then has been a Test specialist. He earned a category A contract last year and was among the fittest players in the recently conceded summer camp but found himself demoted.

On the other hand, Director PCB Zakir Khan said that in order to represent Pakistan Younis needs to sign the contract.
