Police allegedly killed an innocent youth of Lyari in a fake encounter in Gizri.

The father of the slain young man Zakria, has said that his son had arrived from Malaysia on 22nd December. He went to an ATM to withdraw cash when police killed him in a fake encounter. Zakaria’s parents are also in possession of his passport which shows he had been issued Malaysia’s visa.

Zakaria’s father demanded the arrest of accused policemen in the encounter and registration of FIR against them. He also said that his son’s past was not tainted with any criminal activities and he had gone to Malaysia to seek education and had returned to meet with his relatives.

Contrary to the version of the family, police claimed that Zakaria and his accomplices were involved in street crimes. They were looting people when police challenged them and in an encounter Zakaria was killed, while his accomplice was arrested in an injured condition.

Zakaria’s family stated that they would take legal action against police, once police issued them the document of handing over the body.

Further investigation of the incident is underway, police officials said.
