ISLAMABAD: Former president Asif Ali Zardari appeared before an Accountability Court here for Polo Ground reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), ARY News reported on Thursday.
Five corruption references filed against the former President in Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s previous tenure in 1997.
After brief appearance before the court Asif Ali Zardari returned back to Zardari House in Islamabad.
During the court hearing today charges were not framed against Zardari in the Polo Ground reference. The court adjourned hearing of the case till January 18.
The cases against the former president were reopened in October when NAB pleaded that his immunity had ended after he had stepped down.
The Polo Ground reference relates the construction of a polo ground at the Prime Minister House, which according to the reference was illegal.
