ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) continued its diatribe against opposition parties after the setback suffered in the Senate elections, alleging of a collusion between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Minister for State Marriyum Aurangzeb on Wednesday vented her anger calling Asif Ali Zardari and Imran Khan as the ‘kings of horse-trading’ and said that what transpired in the Senate elections was witnessed by everyone.

“Zardari and Imran Khan are the kings of horse-trading. What happened inside the Senate was seen by everyone,” said Aurangzeb while addressing media outside the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The state minister said that the PML-N was the sole party which was not involved in any sort of horse-trading, adding the ECP has taken notice on their request and will initiate proceedings under Article 220 of the Constitution.

“PML-N is a popular party, Nawaz Sharif is a popular leader. We are the only party not involved in any horse trading of parliamentarians,” she said.

She further said that ECP should seek explanation from the opposition parties, and the sanctity of the vote was the main objective of Nawaz Sharif, and that there should be a law to prevent horse trading.

It may be mentioned that Aurangzeb had earlier alleged of rigging in the elections for the top Senate positions, but did not provide further details. She had that those who opposed each other were also colluding together, referring to the PTI and PPP.

She said that Nawaz Sharif was continuing his politics of principles, and will emerge victorious in the end. She said that the PML-N-backed government in Balochistan was dismissed and the Senate chairman election was the continuation of policies against their party.
