LOWER DIR: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari has called off his plan to attend the public gathering on security issues here on Sunday, ARY News reported.

The former president was due to deliver a public speech but cancelled his plan at last moment as he did not get security clearance to participate in the public gathering.

Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani will deliver a public speech on his behalf alongside other leaders.

The opposition party has intensified its pre-election campaign in two provinces of the country where it has minimal representation in Punjab and Khyber Pakthunkhwa (KP) legislatures.

Earlier this week, the party held a massive demonstration in Lahore over power outage in Punjab where several party leaders including Aitzaz Ahsan, Syed Khursheed Shah, and Qamar Zaman Qaira also delivered speeches.

The party had also held public gatherings in Jhang and Mardan last month.
