Zardari summons party meeting to consult on crisis

KARACHI: Former president Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a meeting of Pakistan People’s Party leaders in Karachi to discuss the ongoing political situation of the country, ARY News reported on Friday.

Zardari, who has returned Karachi from Dubai, will hold consultations over the political situation of the country, the leader of opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has said.

Pakistan People’s Party’s Senator Rehman Malik in an exclusive chat with ARY News, has said that the existing political stand off can be resolved adding that if the political parties agree, Asif Ali Zardari could mediate to reach an amicable solution.

Malik said that the former president a day earlier also consulted with the senior party leaders in Dubai. He presided over a meeting of the PPP central executive committee (CEC) and held consultation over the political standoff in Pakistan.

Asif Ali Zardari reached Karachi on Thursday and he is expected to meet some key political figures and to play his role to end the persisting political deadlock in the country.

On the other hand, Leader of the Opposition, Khursheed Shah earlier said that if the rigging allegations are proven, it will be easy to demand resignation from the prime minister.
