Police conducting raids for arrest of the former provincial home minister under terrorism charges.

Badin police yesterday arrested eight supporters of Zulfiqar Mirza for attacking a police station in Badin and forcing markets in Badin to close down.

According to sources, Mirza has agreed to his arrest in the case on certain conditions. He has agreed for his arrest on the condition that he will present his arrest only to DIG Hyderabad Sanaullah Abbasi or SSP Hyderabad Irfan Baloch, sources said.

Fehmida Mirza expresses concern

Dr Fehmida Mirza, former speaker of National Assembly and sitting MNA from Badin, in a statement expressed concern over the  safety of her spouse Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza. She has also condemned the ‘politicization’ of Sindh police department.

Former home minister Sindh was seen patrolling Badin city along with gunmen. Mirza stormed a police station together with armed men and threatened the on-duty DSP, reports said.

In a fit of anger, he smashed the glass of DSP Abdul Qadir Samo’s table with his fist and also smashed his cell phone into the wall, the FIR against him said.

Police lodged cases against the ex-minister for attacking a police station and threatening the citizens.

Police conducted raids at various places for the arrest of the former minister who was said to be a close aide of the former president Asif Ali Zardari before the fall out between them.
