During the sitting, the EU official hailed the conduct of a successful and transparent elections in the country.

The two dignitaries further discussed matters of mutual interest.

After July 25 polls in Pakistan, Michael Gahler, who headed the European Union Election Observation Mission (EUEOM) Pakistan 2018, had considerably expressed satisfaction over government’s preparations, security measures and atmosphere that ensured the conduct of free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

Gahler with his mission observed elections from beginning to the end with its team of about 100 people.

On July 25, the General Elections 2018 was held nationwide in which Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) achieved victory and formed a coalition government in the center.

Despite various reports of free and fair elections from independent observers, several political parties had reservations over the electoral results.

On the other hand, the delay in transmission of election results due to the RTS failure created a controversy that had put a question mark on the transparency and fairness of the July 25 general elections, according to leading political parties and analysts.

RTS (Result Transmission Sysytem) is an android application which enables election officers to send the results to the Election Commission of Pakistan in real time.
