Ex-MQM senator appears before ATC in money laundering case

KARACHI: Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) senator Ahmed Ali appears before the anti-terrorism’s special court in money laundering case of Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF), ARY News reported.

The court has given Ahmed Ali permission to go abroad for medical checkup for 45 days. He has been directed to submit Rs2 million bonds.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has prepared 13 questionnaire related to money laundering. The FIA said it required answers of the questionnaire from the accused.

The court has directed Ali to submit the answers on next hearing on July 19.

Founder of MQM and former MQM senator Babar Ghouri are absconders in the case.

On May 10, an anti-terrorism court had acquitted four suspects in a case pertaining to the murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPA Raza Haider.

Haider was gunned down along with his police guard on August 2, 2010 in the Jama Masjid in Nazimabad where he had gone to attend the funeral of the mother of a friend.

ATC Judge Muhammad Bakhsh Bhangwar exonerated four suspects named Wasim Barudi, Muhammad Abdullah, Qasim Rasheed and Hafiz Ikhlaque from murder charges for want of evidence.
