Ex-pop star Gary Glitter denies child sex charges

The 1970s glam rocker faces a total of 10 charges related to the alleged crimes committed between 1975 and 1980.

The 70-year-old, whose real name is Paul Gadd, spoke to enter not guilty pleas at the Southwark Crown Court.

Judge Alistair McCreath told Gadd he would face trial from January 12 in a case that is expected to last three weeks.

Glitter, who is out on bail, wore a fedora hat, navy blue double-breasted jacket, grey trousers, a white shirt and a pink silk tie.

He is accused of one count of attempted rape and another of indecent assault on a girl aged under 13 in 1975.

For a second alleged victim, he faces four charges of indecent assault when she was aged under 13 in 1977.

He is also accused of plying the girl with drink to have sex with her and faces one count of unlawful intercourse.

In relation to a third complainant who was aged under 16, he is charged with two counts of indecent assault between 1979 and 1980. -AFP
