Faisalabad clashes were planned by N-League: Imran Khan

Imran Khan, speaking at a press conference here in Islamabad, said that he fears that the person, who opened fire at his activists during the clashes in Faisalabad, might be killed in an encounter.

“I don’t like to shut down cities and business but the situation will worsen if our legal demands are not met, which is the investigation of the rigging in 2013 general elections”, Khan said.

Imran Khan added that the people who say that he plays politics of dead bodies are dishonest and do not understand democracy. He added that peaceful protests are the right of every citizen in a democratic country given that the law is not violated.

He claimed that the clashes in Faisalabad were well-planned. He added that the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leaders held meetings and thought that the “burger crowd” of Tehreek-e-Insaf would run away if they would threaten them. He added that the N-League activists resorted to firing when the PTI supporters retaliated.

“I ask all the political parties that if the elections were rigged then how a party could get the mandate to govern the country. The mandate is given when a party wins the polls in a fair manner”, Khan said.

PTI Chairman added that the election tribunal ordered recount of votes in NA-122 after 1.5 year because Speaker in the National Assembly (NA) Ayaz Sadiq was hiding behind stay orders. Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman claimed that the party’s victory was challenged in one of the constituencies of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the votes were recounted in that respective seat.

“The parties are saying that elections were rigged but are not calling for investigation as they know that other things will come out in the open”, he added.
