Saulat Mirza's family receiving threats from South Africa, court told

Mirza, who is detained in Balochistan’s Machh jail, has requested SHC to provide protection to his family.

In his letter to SHC, Saulat Mirza has stated that his wife knows the identity of the callers. He demanded concerned SSP to record statement of her wife and to take actions against those who were involved in threatening.

According to sources, Saulat Mirza also sought postponement of his execution order till the complete investigation of the matter.

Meanwhile, the SHC has rejected to investigate the matter by stating that courts never initiate proceeding on letters and advised Saulat Mirza to adopt judicial procedure.

Mirza was sentenced to death by an anti-terrorism court in May 1999 for murdering the managing director of then Karachi Electric Supply Corporation Shahid Hamid, his driver Ashraf Brohi and guard Khan Akbar in July 1997.

But his execution was postponed at eleventh hour for 3 days on presidential orders after his video statement in which he made shocking revelations and confessions about target killings and allegations on leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
