KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM-P) ousted convenor Farooq Sattar on Friday, while admitting the paucity of resources in the party, categorically denied received any party from Kamran Tessori.
“I have not asked for even a single penny from Kamran Tessori, neither for myself nor the party.” assured Farooq Sattar while speaking during ARY News program ‘Aitraz Hai’ hosted by Adil Abbassi.
Instead Sattar said that he had raised millions for the party based on his reputation and goodwill and successfully ran the affairs of the party, while several other party members also contributed from various sources.
Futhermore, he said that there was complete transparency over the party funds and he had answered other members of the coordination committee when asked about the source of the funds.
He said that the party was receiving donations from several sources including contribution from the business community, philanthropists, and other dedicated workers, and that everyone was contributing on their own freewill. Admitting that use of force may have been employed in the past, Sattar said it was easier to blame the MQM for such incidents.
He also said that he streamlined party funds, and didn’t collect sacrificial hides this year as it was unislamic to use it for political purposes, nor did they use funds for Zakat.
He also said that the party’s charitable wing Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) has reduced the scale of its operation.
Responding to allegations by Kanwar Naveed Jamil that he was responsible for bringing the KKF on the drink of disaster, Sattar said he had instead rescued the organisation. He said the charity was facing loss of five million per month on revenue of twenty million, while he reduced the expenditures and the organisation was now at a break even point.
