KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement–Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar on Saturday announced to contest the upcoming election from three constituencies in Karachi.

“I am submitting my nomination papers from NA-241, NA-245 and NA-247,” said Sattar while speaking to the media after submitting his nomination papers from NA-241 located in Korangi.

Denying that he ever mentioned about boycotting the elections, Sattar said the party was being pushed to the limits and was not not being given political freedom.

“I never said I would boycott elections,” he clarified. “However, we are being pushed to the limits and being isolated. The practice of cornering us needs to end.”

He also said the Election Commission should take the stay order in consideration, and his status as party convenor should be reinstated on the ECP’s website.

The MQM-P leader also demanded that the party offices be re-opened, and the missing activists should be recovered. “It was fine till minus-one formula but if we suspect a minus-MQM formula then we can go to the extent of taking any decision,” he asserted.

Sattar also criticised the caretaker set-up in Sindh terming it as the government of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

He claimed that most cabinet members were PPP supporters. “The PPP government has formally left, but the caretaker government comprises of the PPP.”

He further alleged that the use of development funds and injustice in delimitation of constituencies is prepolll rigging.
