MQM-P will not cancel November 5 rally, says Farooq Sattar

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) chief Farooq Sattar on Wednesday said that his party will not cancel November 5 rally despite whether city administration approves their desired venues or not, ARY News reported.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Sattar maintained that his party is not being allowed to conduct a protest rally on Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi despite cooperating with the government.

Sattar claimed that he was told that a certain Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has already booked the venue on November 5 so they showed readiness to change the venue and decided to hold their rally on Shahrah-e-Quaideen or Liaquatabad interchange but are still not being allowed to hold the rally.

“This is another injustice with us,” said Sattar.

He then announced that his party will not back down and will go ahead with the rally either at Liaquatabad interchange or Shahrah-e-Quaideen.

‘No MQM-P leader involved in money laundering’

Coming down to money laundering allegations against some MQM-P leaders, Farooq Sattar said that he categorically denies all such allegations and is sure that even Arshad Vohra is not involved in any such criminal act.

FIA on Monday registered a case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder in connection with money laundering charges at the department’s state bank circle. The petitioner Sarfraz Merchant accused the party leaders of transferring money to Altaf Hussain’s account using Khildmat-e-Khalq Foundation, MQM’s charity wing.

The interim charge sheet presented in the anti-terrorism court by FIA on Tuesday said that MQM leaders transferred money from Pakistan and India using illegal means with Altaf Hussain as the ultimate beneficiary.

The report maintained that MQM leaders Arshad Vohra, Babar Ghauri, Khawaja Rehan and Khawaja Sohail Mansoor used to collect money using different terror techniques and then transfer the money to the party’s London-based founder using KKF’s bank accounts.
