Fashion Icon faces legal trouble in family court

Internationally renowned fashion designer Mahmood Ahmad Tahir Bhatti, long admired for his jet-setting lifestyle and glamorous public persona, now finds himself at the center of a grave legal controversy in Pakistan.

A family maintenance suit—Case No. 83041225—has been filed against Bhatti in the Lahore Family Court by his wife, Humaira, alleging severe emotional, physical, and financial abuse.

The case, initiated on March 6, 2025, has reached the Proclamation stage, a legal marker indicating the respondent’s failure to appear or comply with court summons.

The proceedings are being presided over by Civil Judge Rana Asif Mustafa.

In her petition, Humaira has accused Bhatti of subjecting her to physical violence under the influence of alcohol, depriving her of basic freedoms such as food and mobility, and confining her within the home.

Most disturbingly, she claims that prior to his departure for France, Bhatti issued death threats should she choose to speak out.

The petition not only seeks ongoing financial maintenance but also brings to light troubling allegations that challenge Bhatti’s carefully curated image of sophistication and international acclaim.

Despite his polished public profile and success in the fashion industry, the case paints a starkly different picture behind closed doors—one marked by control, abuse, and abandonment.
