PESHAWAR: Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) tribunal is likely to announce its verdict of the Dr. Shakeel Afridi Case here on Wednesday, ARY News reports.
Earlier, the tribunal had reserved its judgment of the case till 18th December.
Dr. Shakeel was apprehended from Peshawar on 22nd May 2011 on charges of keeping contacts with banned groups and organizing fake polio campaigns in Abbotabad. APA court had sentenced Dr. Shakeel for 33 years in prison. He had challenged the decision.
Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) Commissioner had handed the case over to FATA tribunal. The tribunal had reserved the judgment of the case and is likely to announce it today.
The accused is entitled to appeal to the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the President of Pakistan against the verdict.
