Fatima simply took to Twitter and tweeted ,”Democracy, out tomorrow”. The announcement created quite a buzz on social media and led to her followers speculating a to what the contents of the novel would be. Earlier, she had already announced that the novel will be released as an e-book via Instagram.

Fatima is no stranger to writing books. One of the books that she wrote was A song of Blood and Swords, a memoir of her own family’s tumultuous political history. her first book was a publication of poems, titled as Whispers from the Desert. Fatima has always highlighted the suffering, pain as well as plight of the common man. In her book, 8.50 a.m. 8 October 2005 was an account of the victims of Pakistan’s deadliest earthquake disaster. Her fiction debut novel, The Shadow of the Crescent Moon, featured the story of a couple torn apart due to the horrors of the War on Terror, was published in November 2013.
Fatima’s family history is steeped in blood, power and violence. She is the granddaughter of the late Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who was executed by General Zia Ul Haq in 1979. Her late father, Mir Murtaza Bhutto was also gunned down by the police during his sister’s and Fatima’s aunt Benazir Bhutto’s government, in 1996. The incident sparked a rivalry between the two households which was to last till Benazir Bhutto herself was assassinated in late 2007. Following Benazir’s assassination, Fatima expressed grief over the incident yet never seemed to reconcile with Benazir’s widower, Asif Ali Zardari. Her stepmother Ghinwa Bhutto has been her political mentor and Fatima has time and again denied any intention to join a political party in Pakistan.
It will be interesting to read what her new book is all about.
