Her late father, Mir Murtaza Bhutto was also gunned down by the police during his sister’s and Fatima’s aunt Benazir Bhutto’s government, in 1996. The incident sparked a rivalry between the two households which was to last till Benazir Bhutto herself was assassinated in late 2007. Following Benazir’s assassination, Fatima expressed grief over the incident yet never seemed to reconcile with Benazir’s widower, Asif Ali Zardari.
