ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has directed concerned authorities to develop a substantial plan envisaging concrete measures to preserve and document the dying arts in the country.
Chairing a briefing at Lok Virsa, the federal minister said preservation of dying art is imperative to promote indigenous culture and connect new generation with history and cultural heritage.
He said Pakistan has a distinct and unique culture and the government will facilitate and patronise its promotion.
He also emphasised on the need to encourage local artists and engage them by providing avenues to exhibit their art works and performances.
The minister also asked Lok Virsa to devise a programme to hold competition among the local artists.
He directed the management to establish liaison with the provincial cultural departments to hold a three day Lok Mela in provincial capitals of the country. He also visited the museum and its various sections.
