Former Information Minister Punjab Fayaz ul Hassan Chohan was on Tuesday asked by the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to resign following his derogatory remarks towards Hindu community made a day ago.

His remarks had angered many within Pakistan who called for his immediate removal from the ministry. His resignation was welcomed by and large by the Pakistani public who described it as a step towards promoting religious harmony within the country.

But apparently, his removal has also given a new set of nails to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s critics, who have called on him to learn something from Pakistan, which had sacked its minister who had hurt a religious community.

Taking to Twitter, former member of parliament and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah said that whereas Pakistan had sacked a minister for his remarks against Hindus, India hadn’t even reprimanded a state governor for his appeals to boycott Kashmiri Muslims.

Journalist Rana Ayyub tweeted the story of Fayaz ul Hassan Chohan’s removal, saying that she was revisiting in her mind the [hate-filled] speeches by Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, CM Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath [and other hardliners].

Mehbooba Mufti, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, also launched a no-holds-barred criticism on Narendra Modi, saying that [in India], the ministers garland [mob] lynchers and the more you are anti-Muslim and communal, the higher you rise in terms of status and power.

Narendra Modi and his BJP government are already under fire from several quarters for their botched ‘surgical strike’ attempt which brought India and Pakistan close to an all-out war.

From the Pulwama Attack on February 14, till the Indian Air Force’s strike on Balakot in Pakistan on February 26, the Indian government has failed to provide any proof to their public.

Intelligentsia within India are asking Modi-led government to tell the public who gave the ‘300-350’ casualties figure in Balakot strike.

But only silence has followed.
