First Hajj flight leaves for Saudi Arabia

The first two flights of PIA flew from Karachi and Lahore to Jeddah, reports said.

A flight of privately owned Shaheen Air carrying Hajj pilgrims also flown to Jeddah.

According to a spokesman of PIA, Boeing 777 and Jumbo 747 aircrafts being used in Hajj operation of the national airlines. Over 53,000 Hajj pilgrims will be transported to the holy land through 116 flights, spokesman said.

The Hajj operation being carried out from Quaid-e-Azam International Airport instead of the Old Terminal due to security concerns after recent terrorist attack at Karachi airport, sources said.
