QUETTA: Bullet-riddled bodies of five men were discovered by the Levies on Saturday morning in Kech district of Balochistan.
The latest discovery comes three days after the fifteen bullet-riddled bodies were found in the same district, raising concerns about growing presence of militants in the province.
Deputy Commissioner Kech district said three of the deceased have been identified as Usman Qadir, Danish Ali and Badar Munir, and all of them hailed to Punjab’s Gujrat district. However, efforts are being made to identify the rest, he added.
Following the discovery of the bodies, a strong contingent of security forces reached the spot and launched a search operation in the adjoining areas to look for the culprits.
On Nov 15, bullet riddled bodies of 15 men were found in the Gerok area of tehsil Buleda in Kech district near Pak-Iran border. All the deceased belonged to Punjab province and were kidnapped by a militant organization while trying to sneak into Iran.
A day earlier, Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan killed an alleged terrorist involved in the recent killing of 15 illegal border-crossers during an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO), Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) had said in a statement.
According to ISPR, the raid was carried out near Alandur area – Abdul Rehman village – of Turbat district on an intelligence tip-off about presence of the terrorists.
Younis Taukali, one of the eight top commanders of Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), was killed in an exchange of fire with the FC personnel.
The terrorist was killed 20 kilometres west of Buleda and 25km north of where the bullet-riddled bodies of 15 migrants mostly hailing from Punjab were found on Wednesday.
