Six die in Karachi rain-related incidents

Heavy rainfall with thunderstorm turned the weather pleasant in the city. However, in rain-related incidents five persons including a child lost their lives.

In Karachi’s Metroville area a man died as a wall collapsed on him. A woman and two children were injured in a similar incident at Naval Colony and were shifted to a hospital for treatment where the woman and one child succumbed to their injuries.

In Buffer Zone two people died of electrocution.

A spell of monsoon rains is ongoing in various parts of Pakistan, which lashed Karachi late at night.

The rain caused 170 K-Electric feeders to trip sending most of the areas of metropolis into darkness.

Around six mm rainfall exposed the claims of the city administration about its preparedness for the rainy season.

The low-lying areas of the city inundated with the rainwater. Several main roads of the metropolis seen under knee-deep water as the drainage system couldn’t function as claimed by the city and the provincial government authorities.
