FM Qureshi disappointed with India cancelling talks with Pakistan

DOHA: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday said resolution of outstanding disputes between Pakistan and India through dialogue is in the regional interest.
He was speaking to state-owned PTV at Doha airport enroute to the US where he will represent Pakistan at the annual UN General Assembly session.
Qureshi expressed his disappointment with India backtracking from talks with Pakistan.
The foreign minister said that he will present Pakistan’s stance on different matters at the UN General Assembly session as well as his other meetings and talks in the US.
He expressed the confidence that the second meeting with the US Secretary of State will prove to be important in taking forward the bilateral relations with Washington.
Yesterday, while reacting to the Indian government decision of calling off the meeting, Mr Qureshi said India has wasted an opportunity of peace by refusing a meeting between foreign ministers of Pakistan and India on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in New York.
He said Pakistan wants peace but unfortunately India did not give positive response.
He said it is need of the hour that both sides sit together and hold talks for peace and stability in the region. He said apparently Indian government is facing pressure internally due to future elections.
