Former CM Murad Ali Shah owns assets over Rs213 million

KARACHI: Ex Sindh chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has declared Rs213 Million assets in his nomination papers.

The nomination papers submitted to the election commission, Murad Ali Shah, who was earlier finance minister in the previous provincial government, was an owner of a bungalow in DHA, Karachi which values Rs 11.5 million and he also owns 51 acres of agricultural land in different areas of the province.

He has also provided details of ownership of two vehicles valuing Rs 2.2 million and Rs 12 million, in addition to jewelry weighs 10 tolas, of worth over Rs 590,000. Furthermore, he has declared an amount of $264, 368 in his bank account.

Supreme Court (SC) had ordered all the candidates involved in upcoming elections 2018, to submit an affidavit along with their nomination papers. The affidavit shall consist details of the candidate which shall be accessed by the voters.

ECP announced that they believe on clarity of elections, therefore they would likely release details of the candidates for voters in which asset details are must.

On the other hand, PML-N leader Khurram Dastgir has revealed assets worth Rs 12.8 million. In addition to that, his two bank accounts holds a total amount of Rs 3,739,000 and he owns 22 grams of gold.

He is also partial owner of a cinema near the Sialkoti Darwaza as well as a cloth market on GT Road.

According to the documents submitted, the Ex Federal minister’s Satellite Town house was presented to him by his father, and his wife has also gifted him a plot at DC Colony.

According to ECP, it is an obligation for all the parliamentarians to declare their assets along with their spouses and dependents, Under the Representation of People Act 1976 Section 42(A) and Senate Election Act 25 (A).
