PESHAWAR: Four mortar shells were fired on Sunday from across the Pak-Afghan border into Kurram Agency, ARY News reported.

According to the local political administration, two mortar shells stuck the Shingkak area destroying one shop completely, but no loss of life was reported. The other landed near a mosque and a graveyard at Kachkina area.

Spokesman for political administration said the missiles were fired from Pakhtika province of Afghanistan. Kurram is one of the most sensitive tribal areas as it borders three Afghan provinces.

The region is known as the key route for movement of militants across the border, often seen as the reason for terror attacks in the country. Pakistan has begun fencing its border with Afghanistan.

On March 15, security forces killed three terrorists who attacked a check post in Khyber Agency. In February, Pakistan also targeted militants across the border and gave heavy losses.
