A spokesman of Rangers in a statement said that a shootout at the Northern Bypass four terrorism suspects were killed and a security official was injured.

Slain terrorists were involved in attacks on law enforcement agencies and other crimes, the spokesman said. They were planning terrorist attacks in the city.

The law enforcement agencies in a raid in Karachi’s Musa Colony arrested four suspects and transferred them to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Forced donation demands

Rangers spokesman has said that a number of groups including members of some political parties, after failing to extort money due to an effective anti-extortion operation by the law enforcement agencies, have started getting money from well off citizens and businessmen in the form of ‘forced donations’ in Karachi.

He said extortion has been a heinous crime under the anti-terrorism act 1997 and a court of law could award life sentence to the offender.

He advised the citizens to call on Rangers helpline 1101, inform through SMS or contact nearby Rangers headquarters for the complaint.

The Rangers will immediately act over the complaint and the name of the complainant will be kept in secret, the spokesman added.
