I.G. Sindh suggests to suspend mobile phone service for one month

KARACHI: Inspector General (I.G.) Sindh Iqbal Mehmood has suggested the government to suspend mobile phone service for one month, ARY News reported.

While addressing a press conference on Saturday, IG Sindh has demanded to halt the mobile phone service in order to counter the criminal and terrorist activities in the province.

“We used to live without mobile phones in earlier days, so it wouldn't be any difficult task to carry on our routine work without having mobile phone service”, he added.

Iqbal Memood also asked government to advise telecom companies to stop pre-paid SIMs.

He also said that new SIMs should be issued after taking finger prints.

Earlier, in the meeting of the law and order committee held at Central Police Office in Karachi, presided over by Awais Muzaffar. I.G. Sindh said that an Anti-Riot Force will be formed in five police divisions including Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur and Mirpur Khas. The personnel for the force will be taken from the Sindh Reserve Police.
