Gas tariff to be increase from Jan 1

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has announced to increase the tariff of gas for all the sectors excluding the domestic in January, ARY News reported on Thursday.

“Gas supply to CNG stations will remain suspended three days a week while one day suspension will be faced by Industries in Sindh”, said Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Briefing the media persons, the minister said the government was working on several fronts to overcome the pressing energy needs and the current gas shortfall stood at 8 billion cubic feet against the production of 4bcfd.

He said TAPI project which was expected to complete by 2017 would also help a great deal to overcome the energy crisis. He said Iran had already worked on the project and had invested around $ 2 billion investment for constructing pipeline on their part.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that main barrier behind the TAPI is US and EU’s sanctions due to which project was facing evolving situation.
