Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) speaker Syed Amjad Zaidi was removed through a no-confidence motion on Wednesday, ARY News reported.
A no-confidence motion became successful with 21 votes while Zaidi bagged only one vote. The ruling party and its allies voted in favour of the no-confidence motion.
The motion was presented by provincial minister Javed Manwa and senior provincial minister Raja Zakaria.
Following the success of no-trust vote, Nazir Ahmed Advocate was elected as the new Gilgit-Baltistan speaker. Zaidi was scheduled to tender resignation after his two and half years term
According to reports, a two-and-a-half-year contract had been previously signed between Speaker Syed Amjad Zaidi and Deputy Speaker Nazir Ahmed Advocate.
