Ghani calls on Pakistani counterpart, COAS Raheel Sharif

During his meeting with President Mamnoon Hussain, Ghani exchanged his views with his Pakistani counterpart on some key affairs between the two neighboring states.

Earlier to this, he also addressed the Pak-Afghan Trade and Economic Forum. During his address, the Afghan President said that Pakistan and Afghanistan together can make the region as world’s best economy, while both the states should make efforts for their mutual ties to cast favorable effects on the region.

Ashraf Ghani said that his government is intended to increase the volume of Pak-Afghan trade up to 5 billion dollars by 2017. He also said that he has more friends in Pakistan than in the entire world.

The Afghan President also held a meeting with the Army Chief, General Raheel Sharif at the General Head Quarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi. During the meeting, President Ashraf Ghani discussed mutual interest affairs and bilateral ties with the Chief of Pakistan Army.

Earlier upon his arrival at the GHQ, a freshly turned contingent of the Pakistan Army presented a Guard of Honor to the Afghan President, following which he laid a floral wreath on martyrs’ monument.

Moreover, the Afghan President also called on the chief of Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUIF), Maulana Fazlur Rahman and discussed with him affairs between the two neighborly Muslim states.
