Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani along with his son Ali Haider Gilani called on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Monday at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
According to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, during his meeting the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Yousuf Raza Gilani thanked the army chief for his dedicated efforts that made recovery of his son possible.
Ali Haider Gilani was recovered in a security operation in Afghanistan on May 10 this year, three years after Al-Qaeda militants abducted him from his hometown of Multan in Punjab. He made a huge return to Pakistan on May 11.

Former premier’s son was rescued in Afghanistan three years after al-Qaeda militants abducted him from his hometown of Multan in Pakistan. He was campaigning for a provincial seat in parliamentary elections for the Pakistan People’s Party.
Yousuf Raza Gilani has already termed the release of his son no less than a miracle as the hopes and chances of Ali Haider Gilani’s release were thinning with the passing years.
Famous Hollywood producer and director, Steven Spielberg has also offered to make a movie on Ali Haider Gilani’s captivity and subsequent release.
