RAWALPINDI: At least two civilians, a girl among them, were killed and three others injured when Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday morning, ARY News reported.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army’s media wing, Indian army’s  unprovoked firing with small, heavy weapons and mortars along LoC  in Chirikot and Satwal sector, led to death of two citizens, including a girl, and injuries to three others.

It added Pakistan army troops effectively responded to Indian unprovoked firing to silence their guns.

The ceasefire violations along the LoC have become a norm given the strained relations between Pakistan and India following a terrorist attack on Uri army base in September last year and Pakistan’s strong reaction to unrest in held Kashmir on the international forums.

Meanwhile, Indian government troops have shut down internet services and begun clampdown on Kashmiris to trample protests on the death anniversary of Burhan Wani, whose death is believed to have invigorated Kashmiris’ freedom struggle.

His first death anniversary is being observed today on the both sides of the Kashmir, divided by the LoC.
