Girls win big at Karachi’s Inter-School and open track championship 2015

The Foundation Public School Girls Athletics Team clinched the Girls Champion Trophy in the all Karachi Inter School and open track championship 2015 held recently at the Pakistan Sports Board Center NCC Ground winning 7 gold and two bronze medals.

Competing with fellow athletes from about 25 other leading institutions of the city, Hiba Khurshid, the 13 year old captain of the school athletics team gave an outstanding performance at the completion, being one of the few players to compete in both the Under 17 as well as Open category. The twice national junior champion who will be defending her national title for a hat trick next year, won gold in all 8 events she participated in: 100 and 200m sprints as well as long jump and relay.

Fellow team member Zara Bandukwala, also won a gold in relay in the open category as well a gold and both bronze medals for her team. For her performance, Hiba was awarded a cash prize for best athlete as well as breaking the time barrier set in the meet for 100m, clocking an amazing 12.8 seconds. Other medal winners for the team included Ismat Alavi and Ayesha Ansari. The runners up trophy was picked by DA College
