Government exercising restraint on Nawaz Sharif’s health issue: Shafqat Mehmood

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood on Tuesday said the government was exercising restraint on deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s health issue, ARY News reported.

“We are trying to provide every possible facility for Nawaz Sharif’s treatment so that it should not be conceived that we are taking any personal revenge,” Shafqat Mehmood said while talking to ARY News programme PowerPlay.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan had offered the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) supremo to get treatment wherever in the country he wanted. However, he said, it was not in government’s hand to send him abroad.

“If he wants to get himself treated abroad, he should approach the court in this regard,” he said.

The federal minister said the government was not getting blackmailed on this issue. He said Nawaz Sharif was being provided the facilities which were not given to a common prisoner.

He said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government had not taken any action against the convicted political leader. The case was filed against him before the PTI’s coming into power, he said.

Shafqat Mehmood said Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was given special dispensation to meet Sharif.

He said according to doctors’ report the three-time prime minister was ill.
