Governor Sindh to head Task Force on Karachi

ISLAMABAD: Federal government has decided to form a Task Force for Karachi, headed by Governor of Sindh to resolve major problems of the city.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, talking to media yesterday said that the task force will comprise of Sindh Assembly members and prominent persons of Karachi. The body will decide on the utilisation of funds for the betterment of Karachi, he said.

The minister said that it was the responsibility of the federal government to resolve the issues of Karachi, adding that the government has received several complaints over the misuse of funds in the city.

The federal minister said it was the responsibility and  top priority of the government to solve the problems of Karachi.

He said the government aimed to develop Karachi and Balochistan for the economic prosperity of the nation.

He complained that the federal government funds weren’t be utilised properly in Karachi and the government has received several complaints in this regard.

He said the water and security issues in Karachi were known and it was the government’s responsibility to resolve these problems and take the people of the metropolis in confidence.
He said that twelve prominent officials of the federal government belonged to Karachi, and it was the first time the city had given such a large representation in the federation.

The city has came out of ethnic politics after a long time, and given its mandate to the PTI, he added.
