This was announced by a meeting headed by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammed Yousuf to ensure Eid on the same day, Yousuf said witnesses of Majid Qasim’s moon sighting would be forwarded to Central Ruet e Hilal (moon sighting) Committee.

This should be noted that Masjid Qasim Ali has been traditionally sighting moon every year separately from the central committee and most of the times followers of Masjid Qasim in Peshawar and nearby areas observe Eid and Ramazan one day before the whole nation.

“Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai of Masjid Qasim has given me suggestions regarding moon sighting and it is up to us to implement them. All the discussion we had today with Popalzai was for reconciliation,” the minister for religious affairs said.

He said the central committee would be asked to wait for Popalzai’s witnesses before making final announcement.

Mufti Shahabuddin has asked to give a Masjid Qasim representative seat in Central Ruet e Hilal Committee and also asked to investigate their witnesses regarding moon sighting.

He said he had told reasons of conflict and agreement to the government.
