Govt appoints Jameel Ahmad as deputy governor State Bank

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has appointed Jameel Ahmad on the post of Deputy Governor of State Bank Pakistan.

A notification issued by the Finance Ministry declared Jameel in charge of the Deputy Governor’s post of the State Bank.

According to details, Jameel Ahmad, who had been previously serving as executive director of the State Bank, will now perform his duties as deputy governor for a period of three years.

In his career, Jameel Ahmad’s had been associated with various sectors of the State Bank which include operations department, banking policy and regulation department, and development finance.

Jameel Ahmed is a seasoned banker with more than 26 years of banking experience.

He is also the associate member of the Institute of Bankers, Pakistan and fellow member of the Institute of Corporate Sectors of Pakistan.

During his educational life, Jameel received his Masters degree in Business Administration from Punjab University.

It is pertinent to mention, on July 7, 2017, the then federal government appointed former finance secretary Tariq Bajwa as new governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

His appointment came in the wake of sudden depreciation and subsequent appreciation in the value of the rupee against the dollar in 2017.
