Gov't declines to allow Musharraf to visit ailing mother

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government of Pakistan has declined to permit General (R) Pervez Musharraf to visit his ailing mother, after which the counsels of the former President have decided to file a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) – ARY News reports.

According to details, all the efforts by the General (R) Pervez Musharraf have failed and the Government denied to grant him permission to go abroad. The Federal Government consulted the cabinet and other important personalities and later denied to exclude Musharraf's name from the Exit Control List (ECL).

The Ministry of Interior has stated that Pervez Musharraf was restricted from travelling abroad, upon the orders of the high court and the Government is not authorized to allow him.

Earlier, the Special Court hearing the treason trial against the former President, had said that if the accused is not under arrest, then he is free to move anywhere.

Meanwhile, senior analysts have said that if the Government is helpless before a self-made law, then it should permit the former President to meet his ailing mother, on humanitarian grounds.

Moreover, the APML leader, Aasia Ishaque has said that Government's personal hatred has been exposed after a clear decision by the Special Court. She stated that earlier to this, the Government wanted to use court in order to fulfill its motives.
