Govt forms new JIT to probe Model Town carnage

TOP NEWS

According to details, a five-member JIT was formed to probe the Model Town carnage, which will be headed by the CCPO Quetta, Abdul Razak Cheema. The JIT will also include officials of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

The JIT will interrogate provincial and federal ministers including the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif.

PAT chief, Dr Tahirul Qadri had demanded to form a JIT to probe the killing of 11 PAT workers on 17 June, 2014 in Model Town, Lahore.

On the other hand, PAT leader Raheeq Abbasi rejected the new JIT saying that his party had informed the government that it does not trust Abdul Razzak Cheema, while it had also demanded to induct officials of both ISI and the Military Intelligence (MI) in the JIT.

“Police itself killed our workers, how can we trust that it will carry out a fair probe”, said Abbasi while talking to ARY News.
