LAHORE: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar on Tuesday said that the Punjab government should focus on equal and balanced development of South and North parts of the province.
Talking to Chief Secretary Punjab Yousuf Naseem Khokhar who called on him in his office, Khusro Bakhtyar called for optimal utilization of existing resources for across the board development of the province. He said that there is a need to devise sound development strategies for betterment of the people.
Khusro Bakhtyar emphasized that Punjab government should focus on less developed regions for equal progress and prosperity of all the areas of the province.
He noted that Punjab is the largest province in terms of agriculture productivity adding that Pakistan’s economy will grow if the province witnesses further agriculture growth.
During the meeting, the Punjab’s annual development programme also came under discussion. Secretary Planning Zafar Hasan was also present in the meeting.
CM Punjab orders up-gradation of South Punjab’s hospitals, schools
It is pertinent to note here that Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, on September 29, had said that development in backward districts of South Punjab is the top priority of his government.
Chairing a high-level meeting here in Lahore, the CM had reviewed the progress of ongoing programs as well as salient features of new development schemes for Southern Punjab.
He had said that funds will be allocated on priority basis for important sectors like health, education, cleanliness, roads’ infrastructure and supply of potable water.
